Madrid – written 11/7/12

Slow morning waking up in Sol Hostel. Eddie did a good job of planning stuff for us to do that day. We walked through a park and had a feed. We went to museo del prada which had art in it. One of us could only go in at a time as Eddie brought a knife to chop stuff up for lunch and couldn’t take the bag past the security check.
We walked around Sol and I found some nice shorts I bought for tegs. we also visited a palace that has something like 2800 rooms. It’s absolutely insane and we both agreed that the palace would make for a phenomenal sleepover party house.

Was bloody hilarious, Eddie broke his sunnies when we were camping so he had to buy another pair because its really glarey over here. He bought some in Pamplona but lost them. He bought some in some plaza from a black man selling sunnies. We walked no longer than probably 2 minutes and his sunnies broke. The little nose thing fell off and we couldnt find it. Was the greatest thing to happen for the day. He bought another pair and so far try are still fighting strong.

That night I got in contact with Yvette and we met her in Sol’s main plaza between the two fountains with flowers around them. She did exchange over in Madrid a couple of years ago so knew some of the places to go. We had some tapas and beers and caught up. It was really nice and so good that we had a translator as she speaks fluent Spanish !

Eddie and myself really really like Madrid and were impressed particularly with their metro system to get the trains everywhere. Made it that much easier to see what we wanted in time
