Grenada, Nicaragua

What an action filled place! Only a couple of nights spent in one of the busiest cities in the country.

To begin this full day of activities, we ended up on a wooden boat upon Lake Nicaragua. Not immigrating anywhere this time. But instead keeping an eye out for birds and monkeys. Three species of monkeys were spotted (not all with a great view to take pictures). Several birds too (cannot remember the names of these).

A tour of a city isn’t complete without a visit to the church and its bell tower. Nothing more to say on this.

Views of another volcano BUT this time it was different. A (not so much) eagle eye view of a volcano crater filled with water. It last erupted in the early 1990’s. After a quick photo from the viewing point, it was off to the edge of the crater for a frolic in the lake. A couple of hours laying on the pontoon in the sun, dipping into the turquoise blue warm water was a delightful was to spend the day. Particularly after paddling a stand up 1km toward the centre of the lake (and of course 1km back). Wasn’t even close to the middle.

A second volcano for the day (and fourth for the trip) – this time no hiking required. A bus ride to the top and a hustle to find a good spot to view the entry to the earths core. Plenty of magma inside but difficult to see.

An eventful day followed by a night out that was very tame. As the name suggests, the Codger is getting older and can no longer deal with the hangover.
