London

You have to admire a city that is so optimistic about life considering the weather here in summer is colder and more miserable than an Australian winter. A city that makes light of disaster and disease striking, singing delightfully about: The Great Plague with ‘A Ring Around A Rosie’ and; ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’. Even to the current day (literally) the past comes back to haunt this city as there was a live WWII bomb just a few streets from where I’d be laying vertical for some shut eye. Everyone just seems to get along with life as though what happened is nothing too special.

Not everyone can have this positive outlook as this Perky Pilgrim was once again acquainted with at Heathrow Airport customs being absolutely nailed with questions for a good quarter of an hour. He’s like a canary at a cat show smuggling food into Hoyts let alone even contemplating smuggling narcotics into another country.

During the stay in the gentrified suburb of Bethnal Green, a couple of blokes a few years above me in high school were kind enough to let me crash on the floor of their five story townhouse. I know you’re probably hoping something went wrong here because that’s the backbone of any good story but I was like a Merino Wool (handled with care).

Pub feeds, plenty of pints, cycling in front of old mate Big Ben, walking around Chelsea and Battersea Park with the whole gang of Pilgrims. It was this Pilgrim’s first time properly having a geez around Covent Garden and I’d recommend anyone who is shooting the breeze to wander around.

Back to being fondled by words at Heathrow after getting in one big tin can full of B.O. and fart – namely the London Underground – to another – a Boeing. What a tiiimmmmeeeeeee to be alive!
