All the cliche rubbish – new year new me. At least you have intention. I have been asked continuously what my New Year’s resolution is… it’s simple. I’m going to focus on the same thing as every year; the intangible possibility that I might be more positive this year than I was last. There’s always room for improvement and optimistic thoughts, from experience, are likely to bring about new opportunities.

How did I start this year? Partying until 3.30am with a bunch of mates in the middle of a valley north of Sydney to doof doof music I had never heard of nor enjoy. It’s not about that though. It’s about creating the memories of good times that you rely on when you might be in the dumps.

I haven’t used this vehicle as a medium to share stories or voice my opinion in a vastly long period of time. I have my reasons and suppose I could spare some time to write more but currently focusing on a career which has taken priority. The travel has come all but to a holt for the time being but I’ll never lose that itch to travel. Instead of the long overseas stints, I now have to be more clever in my plans to fulfil as much as possible in my 4 weeks. Working in Manly with a view of and going to the beach every day all whilst in a challenging environment is the dream, and I’m one of the few people fortunate enough to live it.

I won’t be any different this year compared to last year. Still determined to succeed and make sure a day doesn’t go by where I don’t cry with laughter. My surroundings and thoughts may change like everyone’s, but that overused word wonderlust still has come control. A strong desire to travel… how can you ever not be consumed by that feeling.
