Yesterday arvo, conveniently as the sun made its way down behind the valencian buildings, we decided to do some washing. It was our first wash and also our first mistake.

For me, this is the first time I have ever done any laundry. It was way more difficult than it should have been.

I chucked all of my clothes in the washing machine with eddies stuff except my whites. I decided to handwash these. That was the second mistake. I used the sard soap mum gave me which apparently only gets out stains and doesn’t really wash the clothes according to two girls also doing their washing who found it very humorous and my incapability to do such an apparently basic task. I sat there and plowed through trying to get the stains out. I ended up just letting the whites soak in the sard water.

By the time I had mucked around trying to wash my whites, the washing machine stopped. We hung out all our clothes and sat around waiting for them. As there was still light but no sun the clothes were taking longer to dry than they probably should have in this heat. Eddie and I left them there and went down to the common area.

We were not told until it was too late, but the terrace where we hung our clothes had closed at 10. Both of us were pretty off it but considering all my clothes from my bag were on the line I kinda just wanted them back in my bad. As I had no choice but to leave them there I figured I’d just collect them in the morning.

I woke up this morning, went and had breaky and forgot about my clothes until one guy told me that it was raining. I sprinted upstairs to find all my crap damp.

I gathered it up and found myself for the next half an hour using a hair dryer in the girls bathroom drying my clothes back and front one by one.

It was a terrible experience and have decided I’m just going to throw out my clothes next time they get dirty and buy new ones.

At least I won’t forget my first time doing the laundry
